About Us & Our promise to You:
Charles and I both work as public servants. He is in law enforcement and I am an emergency room nurse. We have four adult children and 1 grandchild with whom we are immensely proud of. Our dogs bring us so much Joy and we feel blessed to justify hanging out with our best friends everyday. That is the major payoff of being a professional home based dog breeder. If anyone asks why we are sitting at a picnic table or on a blanket in the shade at the dog park with several tired dogs laying around us, we can say we are “working”.
Being caregivers (Charles worked many years for the school district with special needs and behaviorally challenged children and teens) we are well suited with nurturing personalities to care for puppies. The care of puppies is a very intense and demanding occupation that requires the capacity to empathize with the dog’s situation during whelping, weaning, and transitioning to a new home. This ability is invaluable in raising puppies who are a complete package with physical characteristics, sound health, mental stability, malleability, gentle temperament, and a brave spirit. We have all observed puppies that cower in the corner when you try to pick them up. It is not only pitiful to witness these reactions to the world, but these puppies may never find loving, nurturing, forever homes, because their spirits are skewed and distorted. In fact, one of the many reasons I started BHP came about through my grief and loss after losing my Dachsund-Pekingese mix “J.J” at the young age of 5 years old due to a paralyzing genetic back disease. Several weekends in a row, I found myself at the pet store in the mall after spending hours scouring their available puppies (rescues and the humane society as well, I did not discriminate). The second, third, and fourth trip I would call one of my closest girlfriends to “talk me off the ledge” as I couldn’t believe that I was moving closer and closer to spending thousands in supporting and bringing home a puppy mill pet store puppy who had spent the first 3-4 months of it’s life in a cage who may have issues for the duration of it’s life. As a caregiver and dog lover, I applaud and admire those of you who open your hearts and homes in this way. In the end, I just knew my heart could not bear it. On my fourth and final visit, I brought my daughter to visit with the puppies and consider bringing home a puppy with me. Through the chaos, the smell, and the environment, we looked at each other and said “this doesn’t feel right”, said our “goodbyes”, and walked away. My desire to raise healthy, happy puppies who are started off right so that they may grow to be well adjusted members of their forever families was born. (...To a girl, now seasoned adult, and medical professional whose first “jobs” included volunteering at the MN Zoo sweeping up goat poop, and later volunteering at the Multiple Sclerosis Achievement Center working in the Occupational Therapy Department with adults many of whom were wheelchair bound due to a flare up of their disease...)
We started Bluebird House of Pomsky for many reasons. We believe that if you are going to do something you should do it right. Because of that belief we scoured the country to find just the right dogs, from just the right breeding programs, with just the right genetics for our foundation breeding line. This was a true investment expense and labor of love.
We are able to stand behind our dogs temperament and health with a short term and a long term guarantee because we are confident in their genetics.
We believe in upholding and adding to the future of the Pomsky breed standard and again produce pups from only exceptional quality parents.
This is hard work, but fun for me. I have been a lover of animals and babies alike since a very young child. I am an avid researcher in those things that are important to me. Being a breeder with an exceptional breeding program and ethics is one of those things.
As an Emergency Room Nurse for almost 20 years, I understand the science behind it. And again, have researched the heck out of it. I no longer have any babies at home. My children are grown. Therefore, the time was right for me to pour my heart and soul into my home based breeding operation to give back and bring more joy in to this world.
Pomskies for me are the perfect family pet. They get along well with humans and animals alike and are the perfect size for a range of activities. Pomskies are not so small as my 7# Pomeranian, where one might be concerned with having them around small children or large dogs, yet they are not so large as to be difficult to transport around and join the family on activities. They have a joyful, attentive temperament, and are easily trainable. I breed mainly for the wooly coat which will require a deshedding trip to the groomers twice a year when they “blow their coat”, but otherwise shedding is minimal throughout the year. Pomskies are a healthy breed. I work to keep it that way by choosing foundation lines that come from proven exceptional pedigrees from around the country and paid top dollar to do so.
We are Breeder Member #111 with the International Pomsky Association. We believe strongly in their code of ethics, mission, and breeding guidelines set forth. Our pups come IPA registered.
Did you know that both the Siberian Husky and the Pomeranian are Spitz-type breeds? Perhaps that is why their puppies are so adorable.
We prefer to have a wait list of loving families for our pups before we breed them and typically have several people/families on our waiting list at any given time. Please contact us with your interest in planning to bring one of our exceptional Pomskies into your lives. A $500 reservation fee is required to reserve your place on our waiting list that goes toward the price of your pup. Bluebird Pomsky prices range from 2000-4000. Shipping of your puppy to you can be safely arranged. Our puppy application questions can be found through the “puppy application” link on our website. Our Bluebird families love being able to share the joy of their puppy from pregnancy/pre-birth, labor and delivery, and with frequent updates during their first 8 weeks of life through our private Families page. We visit in person with our families at 4 weeks when choosing their puppy, again at 6 weeks for their pups first vet appointment for those who wish to attend, and again at 8 weeks when they get to bring their furbaby home. We are always available to our families and love seeing the network of Bluebird puppy owners interact, share questions with one another, and joys.
We truly love what we do here. Our pups are created to bring Joy & Happiness to the lives of their Humans as we in turn expect their Humans to bring Joy & Happiness to their lives.
I could go on for days... please review our website at www.bluebirdhouseofpomsky.com and scour through our Facebook page. There you will see for yourself exactly who we are here at Bluebird House of Pomsky.
