We are seeking guardian homes for our pick of the litter females in 2022. We structure our guardian home program differently than most breeders. It actually should be called "Bluebird's Forever Home Program".
We feel transparency for both parties and the option to opt out and spay your female is important. However, we do ask and contract that you allow her to have at least one litter. Our guardian homes are compensated with each litter. We do not do the free puppy upfront and require that she then have 4 litters without compensation for the family. We also understand that a family may not want to breed their female again after trying it once. We give you the option to spay.
She becomes a "free puppy" with the compensation received after her first litter. Our guardian homes purchase their puppy per normal at our pet price and are getting our pick of the litter. We retain the breeding rights, but she is YOUR dog. Open and honest communication is required between both parties. That is the main thing I ask.
All breeding related veterinary costs are paid for by us. There can be no other intact dogs in the home.
She will not be bred until her second heat. Vigilance is required to monitor for heat cycles and especially when in heat to prevent any accidental breedings. Together, we will coordinate getting together for breedings. She will need to go into the vet for serial progesterone blood draws during her heat cycle. These are important for timing of ovulation and more importantly, pinpointing her due date.
She will come to us the week before her due date and stay with us until her puppies are weaned. This is about 2 months time and we recognize can be difficult for families...which is why we would never expect someone to be forced to continue the program. This away time can be a good opportunity for vacationing etc as you do not have to worry about kenneling.
If after the first litter, you decide not to continue you will have your female spayed.
We LOVE our dogs here at Bluebird House and always put them first. That love is where the idea and structuring of this program was born out of. We want our females to have their forever homes from the offset. We also believe in keeping our pack small enough so that each dog gets the love and attention they require...
